The baseline window is a snapshot of most or all beamline components at the start and the end of the scanĪnd the scan-steps window is a list of all of the steps in the scan (if there were steps) (in this case an energy scan)Ĭlicking on any of the scans, will open a corresponding image if there is one for that step The metadata window is all of the automatic metadata from the beamline as well as whatever sample information you entered in the sample sheet. Click the browse button to select a date-level folder for analysisĪfter reading through the directory, a summary of the directory contents will be displayed, which will be a list of the sample names, the scan numbers, and how many points where in the scanĬlicking on one of these scans will populate the metadata window, the baseline window and the scans window When it is installed, open it up from the new RSoXS menu in Igor Pro

When you do this, PowerPoint ignores your compression settings and compresses the images regardless (and for "compresses" read "resamples to lower resolution" or "throws away the information that would have made the PNG look a lot better than it now does").Īs I suggested above, if there are any blank content or picture placeholders on the slide, DELETE them, then add your images.Download and install the NIST RSoXS browser from (there are instructions on that page) If the image is correctly inserted, it'll disappear, leaving nothing. If you doubt this, click one of the images, then press DEL to delete it.

You've pasted the images onto slides with blank content placeholders. The one you missed is the one that's messing up your PNGs. You tried one of the two suggestions I made. > I also tired the advanced settings options suggested to improve the png quality.

I'll have a look at the EMF + PDF aspect of it later, but for a more immediate workaround. Thanks for making the info/PPTX available. That should give you better-looking PNGs. If the PNGs don't look as good as they should, make sure that you've selected "Do not compress images in file" and Default resolution: High Fidelity in File | Options | Advanced.Īlso, if there are blank content or picture placeholders on the slide, delete them before inserting/pasting images. If you don't have the updates that fix the problem, I'd suggest reverting to PNG for these graphics. My Office 365 was a subscription version with Insider Fast enabled, so the updates I received may not be more widely available yet.

The problem only appeared in Office 365, not previous versions that I tested. When exporting slides as images, some of the images on the slides would shrink. I was just working with a PPT user in Australia last night who had a similar problem. Is there some setting that will make these convert to pdf appropriately? Why are these EMF files shrunk when converting to PDF?

Note - I am using Windows 10, and up to date office 365 I can paste graphics as a PNG (or other file types) in any of the graphics modes as well they all look bad in pptx format but convert to pdf at the right size, but still look bad. The EMF, QT mode looks great in pptx format, but is shrunk when converted to pdf The EMF, GDI+ mode looks great in pptx format, but is shrunk when converted to pdf

The EMF, GDI mode looks bad in pptx format, but converts to pdf and looks great I can choose from the different graphics modes: GDI, GDI+, and QT graphics To be clear, there are several EMF options available to me when exporting graphics. This format by far looks the best, especially because when zooming in to examine close details, the vector graphics scale nicely.ġ) my colleagues using Macs cannot view the figuresĢ) when converting to PDF, the figures shrink or get rearranged.

When I create graphics using mathematical software (Igor Pro), my preferred method is to paste figures into powerpoint using an EMF file type.
